Presby-who? The word Presbyterian comes from the Greek word presbuteros, which means "elder." To be Presbyterian is to believe that just as no individual should expect to grow and thrive as a Christian without help from other Christians, so also no church should try to function outside of a broader community of help and accountability from other churches. The Presbytery refers to the gathering of elders from several different churches in a region - in the case our Midwest Presbytery, that means several states! Our churches provide mutual support, encouragement, and accountability to one another as we seek together to advance the kingdom of God.
